04 Sep 3 keys to express your authentic essence in your brand and why is so important you follow your heart
A frequently-asked question I get by clients who want to build authentic brands aligned with who they are is:
What part of myself should I bring out and express throughout the expression of my brand in an authentic way?
This is not because of a personality disorder! We are multidimensional as people. So there are many facets to our personality.
And I also understand where they are coming from. It is just that some of us have probably been on autopilot for so long that we have not asked ourselves this very simple question: “Who am I at this moment of my life?”
We all appreciate that our lives are a pathway of development and perhaps our priorities in life are not the same as when we were teenagers or 10, 20, 30 years ago etc.
So, what part of yourself to bring out?
3 KEYS TO EXPRESS YOUR TRUE ESSENCE IN YOUR AUTHENTIC BRAND:
THE BEST IN YOU AND YOUR TRUTH
Your strengths: The most positive virtues, abilities, skills and personality traits that can help you stand out and emotionally connect with that type of person you care for and want to help.
Your values: Those core principles that guide your life and your business.
Your purpose: The reason behind why your business was initially created that gives sense and meaning to your life and contributes to the greater good.
WHY IS SO IMPORTANT YOU FOLLOW WHERE YOUR HEART IS:
Ok, it may sound easier said than done. But trust me when I say that extracting our essence requires an honest look into ourselves leaving our self-limiting beliefs to one side.
When I started AsistUp, I was very clear about my purpose and although I knew I wanted to serve within the health and wellbeing industry, I wasn’t 100% sure about the type of client I wanted help and connect with exactly.
I also wasn’t sure what part of myself to express. Should I bring out my caring loving side? OH! But what if others take advantage of me? Or think I am just a lovey-dovey softy? Or should I expose more of the rebel in me? Will I scare potential clients away?
You see, I’m half Spanish and half Scottish and have been influenced by different, sometimes contradictory beliefs and ways of understanding life. I was brought up by two opposites of the same coin.
I am aware that my education and previous experiences in life including in the corporate world had filled my head with many rules on “how you have to be, behave and think” with all the associated “shoulds” and “should not’s” in your life.
I was afraid of being who I am because I have suffered rejection and abandonment in the past for being… just me.
So I decided to play it safe and conventional.
At the beginning of AsistUp, my brand expression was more formal, distant, tending to “cliché corporate”.
But I soon realized that by not expressing my greatest strengths I seemed to attract a profile of client that didn’t suit me or satisfy the real purpose of AsistUp.
That’s why I re-evaluated my brand and started a personal journey to define “who I was, what I valued most, who I truly wanted to serve and who I wanted to become”.
When I finally started to express the authentic essence and personality in my brand I began to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
…AND WITHIN NO TIME I MANAGED TO:
Connect with the right hearts who fitted the profile I wanted to help! This helped me be clear on what part of my authentic myself I need to bring out more and what archetypes need to represent the brand expression.
Increase my personal well-being because I felt even more passionate, determined, balanced and internally aligned. I felt more at peace.
